Alice is part of a series that I first started after my travels through South/East African countries. I had planned to paint the 'big five.' I only managed the giraffe and elephants in the distance. I periodically look at the elephants and realize that the colours are too bright compared to the reality. I make subtle changes and the work never seems to dull enough to show the drought that was apparent.
As I am without a series currently, I am contemplating a return to this series, so I can complete it. Still to do are the rhino, the big cats, and the buffalo. It also might be nice to have the hippo included in this series. I'm not sure if this will happen or if I will continue to find interesting landscapes around me so I can keep active this winter.
